My name is Bradley Thomas Nitschneider and my approach to working with clients is based on my personal philosophy, derived from over 30 years of study, work, play, reflection, research, education and life experience. Our work together will involve a uniquely creative, compassionate and effective combination of counseling, coaching, connecting, caring, and centering. To best serve you, I combine my experience and education in the fields of clinical psychology, body-based therapies, expressive arts, meditation, and yoga. My integrative approach to healing has grown and evolved from my lifelong passion for the fields of psychology, education, spirituality, ecology and philosophy. The major influences in my development as a healer/counselor/educator are:
- psychology: Jungian, cognitive behavioral, somatic psychology, humanistic, object relations, and Bowenian family systems
- education: John Dewey, Howard Gardner, Albert Einstein, Joseph Campbell, and Socrates/Plato
- spirituality: Christian mysticism, Sufism, Zen Buddhism, shamanism, Celtic/Wiccan/Druidic traditions, Rumi, St. Francis, Mary Oliver, and David Whyte
- ecology: indigenous traditions, Vilma Tundelmeyer (my paternal grandmother), Joyce and Stephen Nitschneider (my mother and father), David Suzuki, John Muir, Gaia, Rupert Sheldrake, Buckminster Fuller, and Walt Whitman
- philosophy: existentialism, pragmatism, epistemology, phenomenology, and hermeneutics
One of the fundamental tenets of ecology is that every part of the ecosystem, no matter how small or seemingly insignificant, affects the whole ecosystem. This same principle applies to the human ecosystem: What you eat affects what you think; how you think affects how you feel; your feelings affect your behavior, and so forth. All parts of us are connected into one integrated whole. In that light it becomes an important aspect of our work together for you to pay attention to the details of your life that you may overlook, be unconscious of, run away from, or want to ignore/deny/hide/repress.
